The past resonates with the present as the classic merges with the contemporary. Four bands are set to perform at the renewed Mississippi River Festival (MRF) on June 22nd at the Alton Amphitheater.

The MRF is a celebration of music, culture, and community that carries forward the vibrant spirit of its historic predecessor.

From 1969 to 1980, the MRF enthralled audiences on the lush campus of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. Located in the heart of the Midwest, this iconic festival captivated concert-goers with its blend of natural beauty and world-class performances.

Under the vast canopy of a circus-like tent, music enthusiasts gathered to enjoy the sounds of rock, folk, bluegrass, and classical music. From legendary performances by The Who, Yes, and the Grateful Dead to intimate moments with Jackson Browne and Bob Dylan, the MRF created lasting memories for over one million attendees.

As we embark on this journey to revive the MRF, we honor its rich legacy while embracing the chance to write a new chapter in its illustrious history.
